American Forces Targeted a 'Major Facility' in the Venezuelan nation, President Trump Stated Lacking Providing Specifics.

Ex-President Donald Trump has asserted that American military assets struck a "major installation" in Venezuela in recent days. However, the former president did not specify the exact purpose or location of the target, and officials have issued no further comment from his administration.

Unspecific Comments Made In a Talk Show

"US forces just knocked out – I don't know if you read – they have a big plant, where the ships depart from. Recently, we knocked that out. So we targeted them with significant force," Trump reportedly told Republican donor and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Potential Significance of a Verified Attack

Should a American military action is confirmed, it would represent the first ground target hit since the US Department of Defense initiated a buildup of American strike forces in the Caribbean region to interdict drug traffickers that the former administration asserts operate under the authority of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

This original purpose of the force deployment has transformed into a quarantine aimed at disrupting the country's oil exports.

Online Video and Official Claims

Trump has for weeks stated that US forces are ready to widen the military campaign by attacking targets inside Venezuela, a tactic that would theoretically require congressional approval.

Video footage shared on social media on 24 December appeared to show an detonation reportedly from an industrial area in Zulia state. Yet, the footage or the facility has not been corroborated.

An official from Trump's team reportedly informed a news network that the former president was describing a narco-trafficking site in his comments.

Response and Current Military Situation

The Caracas administration has not commented on the alleged strike the former president described. Additionally, there have been no corroborating news from Venezuela about it.

The deployment of US military in the region – a position certain officials have referred to as a maritime "quarantine" – marks the largest naval operation of the Trump era.

Administration officials have refrained from labeling the operation as a blockade, but have acknowledged that approximately 15,000 troops are deployed across the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, including a aircraft carrier group, F-35 aircraft, and law enforcement vessels to enforce existing sanctions.
